Show proposed to Rainie with a $200,000 diamond ring
Ahah, caught you! Here's a past news I stumbled upon while surfing the net when Hi! My Sweetheart was filming - and still called 'Shanghai Sweetheart'. This describes the filming scene rather than reality, but something to trigger imagination. If you're ever at Hang Zhou, do drop by as Yan An Road is considered their No 1 Street and city commercial center.
'Shanghai Sweetheart' recently secretly arrived in Hang Zhou’s Yan An Road, to film an important scene where Show Luo goes to a jewelry store to buy a diamond ring, to propose to Rainie Yang. The Wan Long Jewelry Store had to close during business hours, the security was very tight and it temporarily turned into a filming site!
On the day, the scene was quite simple. Show plays a character who is so pure and innocent that it seems silly. He was protected very well from when he was little, and his family background is so rich that he can easily buy an airport. He has his eye on a $200,000 ‘LOVE U’ diamond ring, and prepares to buy it in order to propose to Rainie. According to the jewellery shop’s staff members, they said that although the scene was quite small, the dialogue was very amusing. And the staff members even had to co-operate and pretend that they looked down on Show. But in the end, the male lead took out his credit card in a flash, and bought this $200,000 diamond ring.

Rainie & Show secretly dated for 4 months?!
Never did I expect the 45th Golden Bell Awards to end with an even bigger bang! The morning after the awards, scandals of Rainie & Show secretly dating for 4 months became the rave of town and made headlines in Taiwan's entertainment scene. Was it some reporter cooking up news? Was it true? The truth will not be known, unless the rumors of dating was true and both of them would admit it, which is rare as artistes often are asked or made it a point to keep their love lives private.
I for sure would love it to be true though, as I always thought the both of them are a perfect match! So anyhow, here's the analytical clip that brought about the rumors.
5 signs of Show and Rainie's good relationship (translated per the clip)
1. From loggerheads to close friends

The report compares the vast difference their first and current GBA red carpet moment. I've posted on this before, please refer here.
2. Natural hand holding

At the GBA Red Carpet, Show naturally his offers his hand to Rainie. Rainie first takes his arm, then changes to hold his hand; whereas Angie Chai only has his arm to hold.
3. Concern for Xiaozhu

Despite having won the award, Rainie was distracted and rooting for Show all the while, and broke down in tears when she learnt that he didn't win.
4. Intimate Hugging
徵兆4 摟抱很親密
When they met at the post awards, they were whispering things to each other and hugged tightly before the camera, with Rainie intimately sticking to Show.
5. Shy when kissed (referring to Rainie)

And finally, Show's kiss got Rainie so shy that her ears turned red, like a meek little lady being kissed.
The report then closes with about the both of them having visited the hot spring bath together before. And speculation is that because Rainie once dated Xiaogui who is also one of Show's buddy, this made Show withdraw his feelings for Rainie and the two simply maintained as good friends.
Their manager Jiang-ge also commented that they are just good friends, that because this is a re-kindled friendship, Show and Rainie especially treasure the good relationship which may have caused misinterpretation by on-lookers.
My take? Personally feel that this is just facts blown out of proportion (and probably someone's wild guess), like Show clarified on the few occasions when he come to face with the media. However I like the fact that when the both of them were asked at various interviews, they do not deny future possibilities of being together. I guess they do have some feelings toward each other but it's probably not happening now, yet.

0:39 - Reporter: Is it a pity that you didn't win alongside with Rainie?
Show: No, I just feel that because we got nominated for 5 awards and witnessing Rainie winning sent a tingling numbness down my body, to a point that I was close to tears. As a fellow actor (in the same drama), I was very happy for her to receive this honor and recognition. Really feel glad for her.
Reporter: Do you feel disappointed for not winning?
Show: No, no, no...
He goes on to talk about the SMS portion, which I'm going to replicate with a bit of an edit for completeness, since this is the most complete version thus far...
Show: Rainie has received lots of congratulatory messages. As for me, I've received messages of avoidance like "Shall we go shopping, or for movies?" They totally avoid the Golden Bell Awards topic. Even my mom said, "Help me congratulate Rainie, I was jumping for joy when she won. Ok, byebye!" My mom is that adorable! But I feel it's OK. (Rainie was ticked and in constant laughter when he related this.)
Reporter: Then won't you feel even more upset?
Show: No, really I won't.
1:32 - Rainie disappointed on Show not winning...
Rainie: I would like to thank Angie Chai for bringing me into the circle of Idol Drama and my co-star Show Luo. Yup, I must thank Xiaozhu as it has been a wonderful (almost addictive) experience acting opposite him.
Reporter: You were very nervous when anticipating the Best Actor Award, is that right? You really wanted Xiaozhu to win.
Rainie: Yup, actually on his loss... Of course the other nominees were great, but because of my own selfishness (I wished he would win). Because we worked together, I could see his commitment and excellent performance. If not for that, my performance would not be great too. So I seriously feel upset for him, it's such a pity. However based on past records on being nominated with every of his dramas, I believe he has lots of chances in the future.
At this (2:03), check out Show's michievious smirking expression as he mouthed "看吧" (which means "See, I told you") to someone in the crowd - perhaps Xiaoshuang his assistant?! lol.
2:31 - On the use of the prize money...
Rainie: It so happened that a typhoon hit Taiwan on GBA day itself. I feel that the prize money should be donated to the disaster hit families.
Reporter: Do you intend get drunk?
(不醉不归 translated means no drunk no return)
Rainie: I feel like, but I've to travel to Kenting for work tomorrow and the day after. So I feel torn right now.
Show: Just drink till you're drunk then ride to Kenting.
Rainie: Serious? And with my make up on and all, right?
Show: Yeah yeah, you can just start work immediately.
Rainie: But Xiaozhu doesn't drink, so how do I get drunk (alone).
Reporter: Do you intend to drown your sorrows by drinking?
Show: No... I'm happy... Really very happy... (repeated emphasis) I'm going to cry if you continue asking! Hahaha...
I thought the last bit was reaaally cute!

45th Golden Bell Awards: Post Awards Party (2)
Is there a full interview sequence of the post awards party? I'm getting the interviews in snippets from tapes of the various entertainment sources - no one tv station actually featured the full sequence. A continuation of Part 1, here goes:
Opening Headline:
Golden Bell Celebration - Drama Queen Rainie Yang fear not the curse.
（The curse is that any works after winning the award will not receive good ratings.)
Scene starts with Show kissing Rainie on the cheeks. In case you're curious, I did the the angles analysis from various clip and saw that Show and Rainie isn't posing but it's a real peck on her cheeks. ;)
Reporters: Where's the french kiss (喇舌 la ji)?
Show: There would be if I had won Best Actor! (Rainie echoed the same)
Show then went to on mention about how he is sincerely happy for Rainie and relates about the text messages he received, this has been elaborated in my Part 1 write up earlier.
The scene then sees them at a seated area and talks about Show not winning the award as well as Rainie's view on the GBA curse.
Reporter: Rainie justified that you're the biggest "lost pearl" (A expression of heartfelt injustice on Show not winning the GBA).
Show: That's why I'm called Little Pig... *moment of silence, as if a cold joke*
Rainie: Then you should change your name to Big Pig.
Show: So I'll need to change my name.
On the GBA curse...
Rainie: I feel that winning this award is like a reminder to maintain or exceed my standards, you'll need to meet people's expectations that the judges made the right choice.
You can see Show's unhappiness about not winning, despite being by Rainie's side at the post celebration. I hope the next time they act together, if ever, they would win the awards together as well!

45th GBA: Rainie rooting for Show backstage
We can see that Rainie is still in a daze from winning, as the poses she strikes look stiff. 1:27 - Nono, the host, asked who she wants to thank, and she admits her mind is still in a blank. She mentioned that Angie Chai is an important character who introduced her into idol dramas and is happy that idol dramas also have their day... (TV live cast starts on Best Drama and Rainie turns to look.)
"I'm really anxious. I really hope Show Luo can win, because he played a big part in my winning of the GBA. I really didn't think I could win... I was numb while walking to the stage, (Nono prompted if it feels like a roller coaster ride) it felt like I had been on the ride 10 times! I was so numb as if I was about to faint... Is it Best Actor award now?" Rainie was distracted and kept turning to the screen.
A reporter asked where she intends to keep the award. "I don't have a dedicated place to display as they're usually left with the company. Aaahh!" Rainie suddenly exclaimed when HMS scenes were rolling, to realise that it's still the Best Drama award. "I think Show Luo needs me (by his side), because he's all alone... I want to... (announcement of Best Drama) Ah a pity HMS didn't win. It's ok, it's ok..."
3.46 - The scene cuts to Rainie waiting by the TV screen for the announcement of Best Actor. Her actions showed her quiet support and nervousness for Show to win Best Actor. When they announced that the winner is Wu Zhen Yu, Rainie was in shock. She tried to conceal with laughter for a while, but the next second her upsetness showed and tears start to well up. You can see how emotionally upset she was about Show Luo not winning.
45th Golden Bell Awards: Rainie Wins Best Actress!
Rainie's winning speech:
I will start to blush when I'm nervous or excited, so please don't mind me on that... Thank you judges. Argh, my hands are numb! (Pause. She was later calmed by her fans' support and regained composure.) Thank you judges, CTS (华视), GTV (八大), Comic Ritz. Ah, I feel horrible for not preparing my thank you speech! I... I want to thank those whom I've worked with in my past 10 years of acting - director and co-stars - and helped shaped me into what I am today.
Of course, I want to thank the HMS team - producer Angie Chai; director Lin He Long who had filmed and brought out a different me on 4 sets of drama; most importantly my co-star Show Luo! He's the main reason I could be nominated and won. (Show looked delighted at the mention and they exchanged glances here.) It's the first time I was unable to detach myself from a drama, he has helped me a lot and I hope he would win tonight as well. Thanks to my management company; Jiang who did not give up on me when I was a nobody to what I am today; my hardworking manager, Big big brother; my family, relatives and friends and fans who love HMS! I feel honored to receive the award from Guang and Hsiao Qiang. Thank you!
It is just sooooo sweeeet! Show was holding her hand all the time, while waiting for the results and he was so happy for her to win. They hugged! At one point, his expression was caught on camera, somewhat like he's holding back his tears of joy. Too bad he didn't win Best Actor, I was anticipating the smooch he mentioned in past interviews. It's really a pity Show didn't win Best Actor. There was also a scene that we can see Show obviously disappointed when HMS didn't win best drama.

One was totally close and stuck together, holding hands all the way down the aisle. The other, they totally treat each other as transparent and it is very apparent on Show's face in particular.

Congratulations on your GBA nomination! Are you feeling calm?
Show: Currently I'm calm. Initially I was ecstatic when I learnt about the news because it's an acknowledgment (of my acting). Have you heard a guy squeal before? "EEEEEHHHHH~!" And it's the only idol drama that got nominated, the rest are drama serials. I'm glad that the judges appreciated my acting and felt what I was trying to express.
Do you subscribe to the belief that nomination is already winning?
Of course. (Fans in the background are echoing that he will win.)
On his GBA attire...
Show: I've already prepared what I want to wear. (Reporter - Is it going to loud statement?) Unlike woman, guys don't have much choice but basically to don a suit. I can't be too out-of-line too, otherwise some designer will be criticizing on my fashion the morning after. So I'd rather play safe.

Yeah. We walked once when we weren't on good terms and were walking separate ways. (This time for sure,) we WILL stick close together!

English Translation
About 3pm, I was informed that I was nominated for Best Actress for the Golden Bell Awards. The first person to inform me was Show Luo. He sounded a key higher than usual (implying excitement in his tone) and called to congratulate on my nomination. Initially I was skeptical and questioned him as I thought that he was just kidding. I believed him in the end, as he isn't the type who would pull a prank of such matters. "I'm going to cry, I'm going to cry!" I said. And I did when he finally revealed that he got nominated too.
I was really touched. Hi! My Sweetheart got nominated for 5 major awards. This is already sufficient, regardless of whether we won. I will continue to work hard, please congratulate me!

Hi! My Sweetheart has been nominated in various categories of the 45th Golden Bell Awards. And to Show and Rainie, it must have been a dream come true that they got nominated in their respective Best Actor and Best Actress category. It's a surprise though, that strong contender Autumn's Concerto 下一站幸福 didn't receive any nomination except for one in the category of "Best Sales" - this refers to the most saleable drama.
Anyhow, I'm rooting for HMS! Hurrayyyy! I can't wait for the red carpet event and the actual awards ceremony to happen. It will take place on 22 October 2010. Rainie and Show have previously made a pact to appear together in support each other, I'm anticipating.

海派甜心 Ep14 (Finale) Synopsis
Episode 13 Summary
I've not written Ep13, here's a summary to fill in the missing gap in the interim. In Ep13, Xuehai loses his memory and even found himself a new girlfriend. He and Baozhu were then kidnapped by Runfa who needed the ransom to pay his debts. While trying to stop Xuehai from escaping, Runfa hit Xuehai's head hard with a rock. This knocked back all of Xuehai's memory. However when Xuehai wakes up in hospital, he recognises everyone but feign ignorance towards Baozhu as he thought that it is better for Baozhu in Yanfeng's care. This left Baozhu saddened. Xuehai too was saddened and got drunk on the night before Baozhu's birthday. He dropped Baozhu an email...

宝珠姐，祝你生日快乐！在我被你抛弃之后的第四年，我终於又有机会亲自跟你说一声生日快乐... Baozhu, Happy Birthday! I finally had the chance to say this to you, 4 years later since I've been ditched by you.

Checking his pink panther watch that it's only 4am, Xuehai decides to try his luck. He hurriedly sneaks into Baozhu's home to delete the email while she's still asleep. He tries to unlock her laptop password, and is touched when he realizes the password was his birthday! Unknown to him, Baozhu had read the email much earlier, and was even secretly watching over his attempt to delete the email. It was then that she realizes that he is feigning memory loss. Her thoughts,
你这个白痴的惊世骇俗醜不拉叽香菇头，竟然敢假装失意不认得我，胆子很大嘛！You have the guts, how dare you feign memory loss in my face!
Next day at the store, Meijia (girl whom Dalang fell for during his memory loss) looks him up. Xuehai clears things up with Meijia, telling her that there is a difference between like and love. He can like many but loves only Baozhu and will not fall for anyone else. He gets back to the store and was informed that someone is looking for him. She is none other than Baozhu herself, who's back with a vengence.
Baozhu came on the pretext on buying a toilet bowl and asked for discount. This part is comical, as the scenes acted out are of each other's inner thoughts (Sorry it would be too lengthy to put in summary, but drop me a comment, i can translate for you). Baozhu found out the reason that Xuehai is not acknowledging her because he was under the impression that Baozhu has chosen Yanfeng and decided to go overseas with him. She deliberately provoked him by commenting how lovey dovey she is with Yanfeng. And while Xuehai was examining the toilet bowl on Baozhu's question, Baozhu activated the toilet bowl spray function at his face and feign ignorance. As an apologetic gesture, Baozhu offered to treat Xuehai to lunch.
Meantime, Dajie visits Runfa at the police station where he was detained for kidnapping Xuehai. She wrapped up matters with Runfa. Runfa asks for her forgiveness, but Dajie was unable to as his mistake was too grave to have kidnapped Xuehai whom she treats as a precious gem.
At the restaurant, Baozhu was reminded of Dalang's favourite food. She orders the same even though Xuehai did not, "我要一份龙虾鹅肝、鹅肝要肥一点。还要一份肋眼牛排、牛排要三分熟。 前菜我要松露洋芋泥、甜点来个火焰蛋糕。" Xuehai looks at Baozhu intently, he was touched that she still remembers what he likes. When questioned, he excuses himself by saying that he doesn't like those food anymore.
When the birthday cake was served, Xuehai was reminiscent of his intended proposal towards Baozhu 4 years ago. He wore a faint smile while having the flashback, yet simply continues his act of memory loss and apologises for not knowing it was Baozhu's birthday earlier. Nonetheless, Baozhu requested for him to sing a birthday song for her. Both of them were deeply touched in their hearts just thinking of past memories, but held back tears. Just as they were about to part, Baozhu made another last request - for Xuehai to set off fireworks while she celebrates her birthday with Yanfeng, and arranges for him to meet at the graffiti wall.
Xuehai's thoughts (with a sad facial expression): Why does Baozhu want to bring Yanfeng here? I thought this place belongs to just us.
Baozhu's thoughts: You silly mushroom head, you actually put in effort to prepare despite me telling you that it's for my date with Yanfeng. Are you an idiot?
Baozhu: Xuehai!
Xuehai jumped with a fright.
Xuehai: Where's He Yanfeng?
Baozhu: I knew it all, you have not forgotten about me. You don't have to pretend, if you had forgotten about me and the memories we shared, how would you know that this place belongs to us only?
Xuehai knows that he is unable to deceive Baozhu further and attempted to run away, but is stopped by Baozhu. Baozhu clutches the ring in her hands and tossed it over to Xuehai.
Baozhu: You've tricked me, so have I. We're now quits. It's my birthday today. Exactly 4 years ago, I met with an accident and because of that we had many misunderstandings in between. Tonight, let's return to 4 years ago and find back our happiness. LIN DALANG, will you marry me?
Xuehai: I DO!!!
And they kissed, with fireworks set off in the skies.
At the wedding... Xuehai and Baozhu were about to take their wedding vows, when they faced 3 objections.
Miya: Baozhu-jie, it's your last chance. Aren't you going to consider Yanfeng?
Yanfeng: I object Baozhu marrying Xuehai. (Everyone was shocked at this.) Because I hope it's the kind and innocent Lin Dalang that she marries. Dalang, do you remember what I once said? (Dalang nods, and Yanfeng personally hands Baozhu to Dalang.) Baozhu is now yours. Like Miya said, if you ever mistreat Baozhu, you're dead!
Dajie: Baozhu, if you bully our Ah-hai I can't bother. But if you hurt our Ah-hai, I won't be able to bear with it. So I hope you'll love him well, and the same goes for Ah-hai that he'll dote on you. And... Heh (wry smile) I'm done.
Pastor: I'd better announce direct (meaning not to ask if anyone else objects). I hearby announce Xuehai and Chen Baozhu officially husband and wife.
ps: Just finished the watching the finale. I didn't quite like the ending, even though it puts a nice wrap to the drama. The emotional build-up was definitely missing, 30mins being too short. And the spin-off in Ep13 was uncalled for too. Also, with his mushroom head, even I was hesitant whether to Xiaozhu is Dalang or Xuehai while typing out the synopsis. Why, why didn't they bring the handsome and cool Xuehai back during the wedding!!! It's frustrating when the story had such a good build-up, good actors yet a mediocre end.

Dalang & Baozhu gets married!
This is a page out of Hi! My Sweetheart photobook, but I definitely do not wish the story to end at Baozhu and Dalang. It would put the drama to a corny end. Instead, I hope that Xuehai will return and Baozhu marry him instead, as that is afterall Dalang's real identity. The drama is near its end, let's make our predictions about the ending. What do you hope it turns out to be?
